(Town of Cicero, NY)– Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that deputies assigned to the Navigation Unit have charged a Cicero man with Boating While Intoxicated, after he leads Deputies on a pursuit.
John R. Saxton (63) of 8973 East Shellman Drive, was charged with Boating While Intoxicated after he refused to stop for deputies Sundayevening. Around 8:00 p.m., Deputies patrolling Oneida Lake attempted to stop the 20 Ft HydroStream boat Saxton was operating when he refused and led Deputies for several miles through Maple Bay, west towards Brewerton, north towards Frenchmen's Island, then South into Lower South Bay, where Saxton eventually stopped.
In addition to Saxton being charged with BWI, he was also charged with Unlawful Fleeing Police 3rd, Reckless Operation, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Insufficient Navigation Lights, and Operating over 5mph within 100ft of shore. Saxton was transported to the Justice Center where he was lodged overnight. He was arraigned Tuesday morning in the Town of Clay Court on the above charges.
