A Broome County grand jury has indicted a Florida man today on First Degree Murder charges in the death of a state trooper back in May.
60 year old Almond Upton is also facing indictment on assault charges and reckless driving charges too.
Upton was arrested in May after police say he intentionally swerved his car over two lanes of Interstate 81 near Binghamton and killed State Trooper Christopher Skinner while he was involved in a traffic stop on the shoulder of ther highway. Skinner was pronounced dead at the scene.
A chase ensued after the crash and police caught up with Upton in a wooded area in Broome County the same day of the accident.
Upton is also accused of intentionally side-swiping other vehicles on the interstate that day.
