Authorities say they've charged a 22-year-old man in connection with the death of an infant boy in northern New York.
State police say they were called around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to a home in the St. Lawrence County village of Gouverneur.
Troopers say they found Gary McKenzie trying to resuscitate 7-month-old Braylin Chambers. The baby was taken to a hospital in Syracuse, where he died at 5:20 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday at the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in Syracuse.
Police charged McKenzie with reckless assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child. He's being held in the county jail on $50,000 cash bail.
Prosecutors said they don't know if McKenzie has a lawyer yet.
