Snow and wind in Central New York leads to travel problems and potential power outages.

Spokesperson Virginia Limmiatis with National Grid says that ice is always a concern for them.  She says ice on power lines as well as on tree branches contribute to a loss of electricity.

Limmiatis also reminds residents to make sure generators are operating correctly, properly vented, and are outside, and to be sure to call National Grid at 800-567-5222 to report a power outage.
