NCAA Makes Rule Changes With Basketball Video Review

NCAA Makes Rule Changes With Basketball Video Review
Posted June 25th, 2013 @ 9:00am by Jim Donovan

SU basketball fans will be interested to know that the NCAA has voted to expand the use of replay review.

Officials will now be able to use the video review to confirm a shot-clock violation or determine who caused the ball to go out of bounds on a deflection involving two or more players in the final two minutes of regulation or overtime. Video review can also be used to determine who committed a foul - previously, it could only determine who a free-throw shooter was.

Changes were also made in reviewing 3-point shots. Until the 4 minute mark in the second half, reviews must wait until the next media timeout. In those final four minutes, reviews will be done immediately.
