Syracuse police have arrested a man on multiple charges after he jumped out of a still-moving vehicle with a child aboard to avoid capture.
Officers say they stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction but the driver, identified as Jamell Nellons, took off as they walked toward him. At one point, Nellons jumped out of the still-moving car and ran off. He was soon apprehended by officers, who found 12 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. Officers later learned Nellons' 8-year-old stepson was in the vehicle when he jumped out. The child was not injured. Nellons was charged with a number of offenses and will be arraigned this morning.
