Waterloo, N.Y. – Sentencing is scheduled for today in Seneca County man who admitted to killing his son.

Karl Karlsen, 54, pleaded guilty to plead guilty last month to second-degree murder on the eve of his trial.

In 2008 Karl dropped a truck on his son Levi while he was working and left him to die. The father killed his son so he could collect on a 700,000 life insurance policy – which he was the sole beneficiary of.

Authorities in California are also re-investigating the 1991 death of Karl Karlsen's first wife in a suspicious fire. Three weeks before Christina Karlsen died, Karl Karlsen bought a $200,000 life insurance policy on her.

Karl Karlsen is expected to be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for what initially ruled an accidental death.
