State Fair Director Tom Ryan, who has only held the job for eight months, has stepped down, according to a press release from the state's Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Ryan was appointed by Governor Cuomo to take over the fair in February, replacing Dan O'Hara. At the time, he said he planned to move to Syracuse and had no plans to retire. Former Syracuse mayor Matt Driscoll will head a search committee to find a permanent fair director.
