Onondaga County Sheriff's detectives arrested the man they say robbed an M&T Bank Thursday.
Detectives say they've charged Matthew Chiles of Nedrow with first degree Robbery and third degree larceny for allegedly robbing the M&T branch on South Salina in the town of Onondaga. Chiles displayed a pipe with wires and told employees it was a bomb, and then took an undisclosed amount from bank drawers and exited the bank. He was immediately pursued by a retired sheriff's deputy and a district attorney's office investigator, and was taken into custody about 300 yards from the bank.
Chiles is in the Justice Center on $40,000 bail, cash or bond. He returns to Town of Onondaga court May 1.
