A Tompkins County man has been arrested by State Police after a deadly accident in December that killed two people.

19 year old James Crosby of Van Etten has been charged with Manslaughter, Assault and Reckless Driving after the crash on New Years Eve in the Town of Newfield. A grand jury investigated the accident and decided to hand up the charges Monday.

Troopers say Crosby was traveling down on State Route 34 that night when he veered into the opposite lane striking a Jeep. 20 year old Derek Nichols, a passenger in Crosby's car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Jeep, 67 year old Kathy Lattimore, was later pronounced dead at a Cortland hospital.

The driver of the Jeep and another passenger also suffered injuries after the crash.
