Local Man Helps Rescue Thai Soccer Team

The 12 soccer players and their coach rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand had some help from a Central New York native! Derek Anderson is a paratrooper who helped bring the team and their coach to safety. His mother told NewsChannel 9 that he was sent their at the end of June because of his specialized training that was vital in getting them all out safely. Derek failed to mention to his parents he was actually going into the dangerous caves, which they said was probably a good idea on his part.

Great job, Derek! Thanks for making Central New York Proud!
