How to Avoid the Flu at Work

It's officially flu season. Or, as I like to call it, crud season. Ya know the crud? When it's not the flu but it feels like it and it won't go away? Yeah that.

One of the most common places to catch it is at work. After all, people like me have kids in the petri dish that are schools. We then bring those germs to work and... boom! Everyone is miserable. Sorry BTW.

So how can you protect yourself from getting it at work? Here's my top three things to keep at your desk to avoid the flu, from a list Bustle put together...

1. Disinfecting wipes - Since we can’t force sick people to stay home, these wipes can help sanitize surfaces everyone in the office touches, like doors, counters, copiers, printers, and well, pretty much every surface. Grab a thing of them next time your at the grocery store and plop it on your desk. i actually take one with me when I get up to grab door handles, and such, with.

2. A throw blanket - According to Harvard research, the flu thrives in cold temperatures and that’s also when our immune system is suppressed, so fight the cold with a cozy blanket to keep you warm at your desk.Just remember to take it home for a wash on the weekends. Plus, every office is ALWAYS cold, so it's a good idea to have it in general.

3. Immunity-boosting probiotics - Flu season is a good time to try out probiotics if you haven’t before because protecting your gut health can keep your body ready to fight off any bugs and germs it comes into contact with. Try Kevita Sparkling Probiotic Drink. They are tasty and do a great job! Usually in the nature section of grocery stores. I like the Ginger Lemon one myself.

BUSTLE has MANY more suggestions as well, some that aren't obvious. Check out the full list here: Bustle.com
