- A fifth grade class near Lake George, New York has been keeping in touch with an army sergeant who's been serving in the Middle East. After talking to him while he was stationed in Afghanistan over FaceTime, the sergeant surprised the kids in person! The class was so excited and made cards for him. The sergeant wanted to thank the students in person for all their kindness and support.
- After writing letters for over 70 years, two pen pals finally met in person! Lesley Exell in Australia first wrote to Betty Turner in England back in July of 1946. It wasn’t until 1996 that they even started talking on the phone. After 71 years, Lesley finally flew to England to meet Betty in person! They probably had a lot to talk about!
- A coffee shop in North Carolina is creating careers for people with disabilities. Bitty and Beau’s Coffee employs 40 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The owners started the shop in part because two of their children have down syndrome. The owners hope that working at the cafe helps people feel comfortable with themselves and others.
