Mocking a kid is below us all

A writer for Saturday Night Live has been suspended indefinitely after mocking President Trump’s 10-year-old son Barron on Twitter.

Katie Rich outraged a lot of people when she tweeted during the inauguration last Friday, "Barron will be this country’s first homeschool shooter." By Monday, Rich had deleted the post and apologized.

This was classless. It doesn't matter if it's the President's son or a kid in your neighborhood.

Mocking a kid is below us all.

The thing is, people said and say worse things than Katie did about Barron on social media, and it's just wrong.

Too many of us are spineless internet trolls; willing to say anything we feel and expect no consequences for it. You'd never say those things to their face.

Look, we all make mistakes and say regrettable things. I've said SO MANY things I regret, and learned from them. I don;'t expect perfection, but I would hope we could get better at being civil, for once.

I bet Katie will learn from this. The question is if you will learn from it too.
