Officers Help Fallen Upstate NY Trooper's Family

 
  • The daughter of New York State Trooper Joel Davis was just days away from celebrating her 13th birthday when her father was shot and killed on the job. Before he died, Davis was in the process of building his daughter a treehouse. After his passing, 35 officers, including many of Davis’ colleagues, pitched in to finish the project. The treehouse is now finished and sports an American flag honoring her dad.  
  • Today is National Tequila Day, so we have that going for us on a Monday. The liquor gets its name from the town of Tequila in Mexico and has been around since the conquistadors. The drink actually has some health benefits. Do you know if you take a shot before lunch it can stimulate the appetite and after dinner, it can help with your digestion? We plan on testing both theories today.  
  • An 88-year-old woman is reminding us to live our lives to the fullest. She’s been crossing off items on her bucket list, including skydiving! She says that if you’re afraid, you only live half a life. The next item on her list is driving a race racecar.
 
  • On the first day of CPR class, the instructor suffered a heart attack. Luckily, a former nurse was taking the class as a refresher and was able to perform the lifesaving measure on her teacher. Her instructor is doing okay now and the former nurse can definitely say she’s gotten good practice!
