Amazing! Young Scientist Wins With Lead Detector

An 11-year-old girl from Colorado has been named this year's winner of the Discovery Education and 3M Young Scientist Challenge. Gitanjali Rao won $25,000 for her lead sensor, which she said was inspired by the Flint water crisis. The common methods for lead testing are to either use lead testing strips or to send water directly to the EPA. Rao wanted to create something that would make the process more efficient.
