A friend of mine and CNY’er Christina Downes has been diagnosed with Behcet's disease. What’s that? It’s a very rare condition that affects the nervous and digestive system. So basically she has a lot of coordination and food issues in the nastiest of ways, and that’s over simplifying. More on that HERE
Christina has gone through 6 months of chemo with no improvements. BUT doctors believe an infusion treatment just might work. Here’s the problem though: they cost $10,000 per infusion.
Christina and her family are some of the very best people you will ever meet. They embody everything that is truly great about Central New York, and she most certainly deserves better.
She has set up a fundraising site to help her get these expensive treatments that are absolutely necessary but insurance doesn’t cover much of (or any of). All the funds go toward her treatments.
