GOOD STUFF: Couple Spends Anniversary Helping Meals On Wheels

A Clay couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary delivering Meals On Wheels. Jim and Cherie Putnam deliver food two or three times per week, and on their 46th wedding anniversary, they didn’t stop. The couple spent hours driving around the Syracuse area delivering meals to homebound people who otherwise wouldn't eat. The Putnam's dedication is something Meals on Wheels hopes inspires others to join the team, especially in the winter- because Meals on Wheels has an urgent need for drivers. A teen from Sacramento has decided to put his college education on hold so that he could do something more important. 19-year-old Dillon Hill is spending the year with his best friend, Chris, helping him cross off items on his bucket list. Chris Betancourt has leukemia and was told that he likely has only two more years to live. After breaking the news to his best friend, the two of them spent some time writing a bucket list of 125 things Chris would like to do before his time is up. That’s when Dillon decided that he was going to spend however long it takes to help Chris fulfill each and every one of them. So far, the best friends have flown an airplane, eaten the hottest pepper, gotten matching tattoos, and have even bought 100 fast food burgers for homeless people. Read the full story here:

A San Francisco man who gives out muffins to the homeless has inspired an annual Muffin Day. The first time Jacob Kaufman made a batch of muffins from scratch, he passed them out to homeless folks in his hometown. The 36-year-old loved the experience so much, he did it again the following week and kept handing out muffins for about a year on his own. Word got out about “The Muffin Man” and his good deeds, and a woman named Julia Levy reached out to try to create a holiday for giving away food. Together, they start ed a Facebook group and with the hashtag #GiveMuffins, they invited people across the U.S. to join them in a day of baking and giving away muffins once a year, on the last Sunday of January. A couple moving from Puerto Rico to Wichita was gifted a car after their tough move. Maligros Galindez and Angel Baez survived Hurricane Maria, but lost nearly everything they owned. On top of that, they had a child three days after the storm hit. After the child was born, they began to plan a move to Wichita, Kansas to start a new life. When they got there and enrolled their other son in the local elementary school, they learned that his teacher, Roxanne Murillo, wanted to help the struggling family.
