A stranger paid power bills for a families with a teen on life support. Firefighter Ryan McCuen responded to the emergency call that mother, Christy Stone, placed after the home’s power was turned off because they couldn’t pay the bill. She explained that her family has been overwhelmed with medical costs for her son, Troy, who has muscular dystrophy and relies on an electrically powered ventilator to breathe and stay alive. McCuen stepped in and paid the outstanding bill of over $1,000, and the family’s power was on 20 minutes later.

A group of hairdresser gave haircuts to the homeless and less fortunate. Melissa Payton organized an event called Street Stylez, a group that cuts hair, but can also changes the way these people feel about themselves. Melissa organizes around important events like back to school for kids, and important holidays. She receives donations from the community to keep the effort rolling, and always hopes fellow hair stylists will continue to help out with their expertise.
