After the announcement that this year's Warped Tour would be the last, people across the country have been flocking to the website to make sure their last year in the pit would be the best. I'm one of those people this year, and I'm bringing my wife- who has never been to a Warped Tour. EVER. I'm still shocked that someone who grew up in the era where iconic punk rock bands were still headlining these concerts has never been to the hallowed grounds. D, who's also heading to the Journeys stages for the first time, at least has the excuse of being young (Warped started before she was even alive!).
(pictured: Rory, if we decide to take him to Warped with us)
(edit: we are not actually taking him to Warped)
I also have some feelings about this year's lineup- what happened to the really big acts? Why can't My Chemical Romance get back together for a handful of shows? Or blink-182? A major headliner that everyone knows would have boosted sales into the stratosphere- but organizers are hinting at something even bigger for the 25th anniversary of Warped next year. D and I think that they're planning a big music festival weekend like Coachella or Bonnaroo; but with something as iconic as Warped Tour, whatever they decide to do is going to be something huge, wonderful, and nostalgic- just like Warped was for me as a teen.
