Armory Square Chocolate Store To Remain Open

A staple of Armory Square isn’t closing down after all! Sweet On Chocolate will remain open dispite a Facebook announcement yesterday saying they would close. Owner P.J. Goodman is stepping away from the business, but it will operate as usual and he says he’s very optimistic about its future. Read more here:

A janitor from a Kentucky elementary school left $175,000 to help victims of child abuse. Alvin Randlett was a 32-year employee of the Covington Independent School District, and after he died in 2015, he left over $175,000 to the Office of the Attorney General's Child Victims' Trust Fund. His donation will help protect kids from abuse, which was an important cause to Randlett. A letter from his estate explained that he realized a lot of the students he served were dealing with it, so he developed a passion for protecting them. Read the full story here: FOX 19 - Cincinnati

And... a Massachusetts man recently donated a kidney to his coworker of 14 years. Matt Knowles was in desperate need of a new kidney after the one he got from a 2006 transplant began to fail. He was spending four hours, three nights a week on dialysis while working full time. Co-worker Ken Pefine, who has worked with him for 14 years at Eversource, offered to be tested. The men were a match and had the successful transplant. Ken said it was a no-brainer for him to donate his kidney. Read the full story here: WCVB - Boston
