Syracuse Chiefs Are Changing Their Name To What?

Syracuse Chiefs

For one night, May 31st, the Syracuse Chiefs will become the Syracuse Devices! Why the name change for that day? It’s to honor the Brannock Device, that little metal device shoe stores use to measure your foot when you shop for shoes!

The device was actually invented in Syracuse by Charles Brannock in 1926! The Brannock Device Company is still located in the Syracuse area, and is still producing those little metal products for measuring an individual’s foot.

The Chiefs will be sporting new uniforms for that day, and a mascot named “Chuck” will be there interacting with the fans!  Later in the season, the Chiefs will bring back the “Syracuse Salt Potatoes” in celebration of Salt Potato Palooza in August. Sounds deliciously good to me!
