Local HS Teacher Offers End-Of-Year "Real World" Lessons

A Fulton High School Biology teacher gave his class an uncommon real-world lesson: how to change a tire 101. Dan Mainville teaches AP Biology, and realized most of his students don’t know how to do any basic car maintenance. So, once the exam is finished for the year, he offers a hands-on car basics tutorial. His hour-long lesson includes how to change a tire, air filter, and the oil. Richard Jenkins was always a bookworm, and was even bullied for it, as kids would jokingly call him "Harvard". But he’s showing them now, because Jenkins is headed to Harvard on a full scholarship. He says he decided to really focus on academics after being embarrassed in sixth grade to tell a friend he was staying in a homeless shelter. He plans to study computer science.
