April 11, 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the New York State Police.
Troopers patrol our highways, roads and streets keeping us safe 24/7. They are easily recognizable in their blue-and-gold cruisers, stetsons and purple ties while in uniform.
Thousands of people every year try to join the ranks of the New York State Police, but a very small percentage make it through the rigorous process to join the force.
It is not easy becoming one of the best New York has out there serving and protecting us. Watch below as you witness what recruits go through during training for months before being allowed to hit the road.
Happy Birthday to all the men and women of the New York State Police. Stay safe.
