"Before my husband and I got married, my mother-in-law whined to my family that she was losing her only son and my aunt reminded her she wouldn’t be losing anyone, but gaining a daughter. And my MIL said to my whole family, 'What do I need a daughter for? I already have a dog.'” - user klwest
"My MIL was babysitting my infant son for an hour and she took him to a bar and told people he was HER baby." - user fdmcintyre27
"My ex-mother-in-law gave me a religious video about how women must learn to forgive after my ex-husband cheated on me." - user jellonetwork
"My MIL forced us to host Thanksgiving at our house a month after our first child was born – she cried until we said yes. She didn’t offer to help with anything and then yelled at my husband, saying I was 'avoiding the family' when I went upstairs to breastfeed my son and put him down for his nap. Then, the family ate dinner without me." - user alessak
"After a year of being married, we were making breakfast together and my MIL said that it was so nice what my husband was doing for me and my kids (from a previous marriage). She said, 'He always was the one rescuing injured and abandoned animals as a kid.'" - user tammym44a2a6108
