Katy Perry Seemingly Teases Taylor Swift Collaboration: 'Can You Imagine?'

Could we actually, finally be getting a collaboration between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift?! Sounds like Perry is sure thinking about it!

On the most recent episode of American Idol, which was duets themed, two of the current contestants on the show, Althea Grace and Camille Lamb, together performed Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me," which impressed the judges enough to move them forward into the next round. And after Perry telling them they'd be moving on, also saying "That's what queens do," the ladies left the stage, and the pop star told her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie:

"Can you imagine if Taylor and I work together, what we could do?"

Both Katy and Taylor's fans have been hoping for a collaboration between the two ever since they put their long-standing feud behind them. The closest they've come to a collab recently is when Perry appeared in Swift's music video for "You Need To Calm Down."

One thing is for sure, fans want a collab from Katy and Taylor and truly believe it is coming. For starters, Katy's "Can you imagine if Taylor and I work together... what we could do?" quote from this week's show is in a tweet pinned to the top of their account.

Also, one fan on Twitter pointed out a possible Easter egg left by the American Idol Twitter account back in August. The show retweeted Katy's tweet announcing "Daisy" as the first single from her album, and wrote, "We can't to play this like 1,989 times in a row. #DAISIES #KP5 #IdolOnSunday" — the 1,989 times a possible nod to Taylor Swift's 1989 album and the year she was born.

And another fan is hoping for a new version of "Bad Blood" featuring Perry — a song about the stars' feud.

Taylor is currently re-recording most of her albums and getting ready to release her Fearless (Taylor's Version) album on April 9th. The new iteration of the 2008 record features 26 songs in total, which includes 6 never-heard-before songs from "the vault."

Meanwhile, in addition to being a judge on American Idol, Perry released her latest album, Smile, in August 2020 — around the same time she welcomed her daughter Daisy Dove with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
