Kids — they say, and do, the darndest things.
In a new interview to wrap up his visit to Cape Town, South Africa, Prince William revealed that his daughter, Princess Charlotte, had an emotional reaction to seeing him with a beard for the first time after years of going clean shaven, per People. The Prince of Wales said that when he initially grew a beard earlier this year, his 9-year-old daughter, who also crafted a sweet memento for her dad, wasn't the biggest fan.
"Well, Charlotte didn't like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off," he said, adding that he had to convince the young royal that it was OK for him to change up his appearance. "Then I grew it back. I though, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay."
Despite what one reporter's declaration that William's facial hair gave him a "relaxed" look, he said this past year has been anything but, especially given his family's health concerns.
"It's interesting you say that, because I could be less relaxed this year, so it's very interesting you're all seeing that," he said, adding. "But it's more a case of just crack on and you've got to keep going."
