In Syracuse, New York, volunteers are busy preparing for the annual Christmas meal organized by the Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse. This year, over 100 volunteers are involved in the effort to provide meals to more than 2,900 people in the greater Syracuse area. The festive meal will be served on Christmas Day (December 25) and includes turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, mixed vegetables, dinner rolls, and pie.
The Rescue Mission will host a midday meal for approximately 300 guests at their Food Services Center in Syracuse. Additionally, around 2,500 meals will be delivered to individuals across Onondaga County who pre-ordered them. The Rescue Mission's Food Services team has been preparing for months to ensure they meet the community's needs during the holiday season.
The Christmas meal holds special significance for those staying at the Rescue Mission’s emergency shelter. Along with the meal, each shelter guest will receive hygiene products and slippers. Clients in the Rescue Mission’s supportive housing programs will also receive small gifts to brighten their holiday.
