Will Arnett knows his dynamic with ex-wife Amy Poehler may be "weird" to some, but it's one that works for them.
Poehler is set to appear on an episode of Arnett's SmartLess podcast, which he hosts with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, where the pair opened up in rare comments about their unique relationship, per People. The Parks & Recreation star and the Arrested Development actor tied the knot in 2003 and were married for nearly a decade before separating in 2012. They share and co-parent two sons together, Archie, 16, and Abel, 14.
"I'm really lucky to have her as a partner in this way. There aren't many people I speak to more than I speak to her, which is weird — you know what I mean? But it's great," he said. "She is somebody that I still run a lot of stuff by."
He continued to share his appreciation for his ex and the way she still supports him and offers advice even years after their relationship came to an end.
"She's the person I go to, like, 'Hey, I'm thinking about doing this.' Whether it's life or work, I really seek her counsel because it's important to me — because I trust her," he said. "She's awesome."
The Lego Batman Movie star also praised the Saturday Night Live alum's parenting skills and how it has helped him become a better parent to their kids. He is also a dad to 4-year-old son Alexander with girlfriend Alessandra Brown.
"Amy, you're really good at this and you help me to do this in concert with you," he said. "I don't come by it naturally because that's not how I was raised."
